70cl/43.2% ABV Speyside Scotland With Gift Box! The return of the name Reserva to Glenfiddich's 21YO after a few years under different titles is also accompanied by an upgrade to its packaging. It is still finished in rum casks for four months, but now has a more elegant presentation, as befits its position towards the top of the distillery's regular range. Matured in rum barrels from the Sancti-Spiritus region, a town in the heart of Cuba, this single malt with glints of topaz has a nose characterised by exotic fruit. It evolves with violets, tobacco, vanilla and sugar cane. The palate is fresh and heady, evoking bananas and ripe fruit (pears), and developing mellow notes of malted barley. The finish reveals notes of cocoa beans and slightly bitter chocolate. Finishings have become very fashionable. While the merits of some may be debatable, this Gran Reserva is of a more serious calibre.
